January is proving to be a really busy month as Discovered, of Northampton, have also recently signed up to our social care settings software. Their five-bedded home in Northampton, Abington Park, is opening in February 2018. It provides 52 week-a-year care and accommodation for looked after children, many of whom have complex emotional, social and behavioural difficulties and/or complex interpersonal abusive behaviours. They admit young people between the ages of 10-18 of any gender.
Discovered Care and Education was started in 2017 in order to provide a holistic approach to residential care, education and therapy for children and young people (aged 10-18) with complex needs. This is a subset of children in residential care who present higher than average levels of risk to themselves or others, often stemming from the level of neglect and/or other types of abuse sustained early in life. Many will have been through multiple placement breakdowns and almost all have underlying attachment issues. All of this often manifests in challenging behaviours. Our approach to this is rooted firmly in a culture of positive behaviour support (PBS), which assumes that all behaviour is learned and therefore open to being changed.
Our recipe for care is a simple one: we aim to provide nurturing, child-centred care in a warm, homely environment with friendly, supportive and well-trained staff.
ClearCare welcomes Discovered on-board and we look forward to working with them.
