Children and families should not experience things being done ‘to them’ but with them, services should respond to their needs cohesively rather than in silos, and at all levels plans should be a collaborative process.”
– Childrens Commissioner, Putting Children’s Voices at the Heart of Care, 2022
Introducing our new and improved Kids App – a powerful communication tool that enables young people to have more say in their care delivery!
It’s never been more important to ensure that children’s care plans are collaborative. The 2022 Children’s Commissioner’s report highlighted how essential it is that looked after children feel loved, stable and listened to.
With all this in mind, we created an app just for them!
With a choice of two different interfaces for younger children and for teens, the easy to use app helps to further engage children on their care journeys. It allows young people to feed back on their care delivery, and even earn rewards for contributing.
A Complete Picture of Care
For the Young Person
Through the Kids App, young people can see their upcoming appointments, as well as who will be accompanying them. The rota functionality lets them easily see which staff will be available and when, which provides a greater sense of predictability and structure, making them feel more secure.
Young people can also post feedback about any area of their care where they wish to contribute. This could include commenting on a procedure, asking a question, talking about a bad day or just requesting something simple like a new school bag.
By providing a platform for all of this and more, the Kids App gives young people more input when it comes to their care, and more control over their own destiny.
And For You…
When a young resident engages within the Kids App, this is flagged for attention on the staff’s summary screen, ensuring nothing is missed.
Every comment, question and opinion is tracked, and data is securely stored within the Clearcare system. By recording this information digitally it can help you when evidencing outcomes, as you can clearly demonstrate children’s involvement and feedback throughout their care journey.
Monitor Objectives and Earn Rewards
Through the app, young people can view their objectives, and perhaps most excitingly, their progress towards earning rewards!
Rewards are completely customisable for each child in your care and once the young person has acquired the amount of points required, they can claim their reward.
It’s widely reported that in-game rewards give children a sense of progress and motivates them to keep playing and progressing*! (*See the source article here)
My Voice
The Kids App has been designed to empower young people with a tool to easily report good news, message staff, or if needed, raise a concern.
This tool isn’t designed to replace face-to-face communication – It simply gives young residents the ability to have their voice heard, on their terms. Many children feel more comfortable with online communication, where they have more opportunity to think about what they want to say.. By encouraging them to speak up, the Kids App can be vital to facilitate a more joined-up care experience.
